Since the advent of unresponsive play, returning the yoyo to one's hand has become a trick in its own right, and one that must be repeated often during the course of play. Naturally, the bind has evolved from a simple, purely functional trick to have countless variations that can be personal to the individual yoyoer—to the point that some binds have come to be named after the yoyoers who made them popular (Dave bind, Guy Wright bind).
Examples: [a zillion bind variants]
