In the exciting, white-knuckle world of long sleeper contests, perhaps no innovation in technique has had as much direct impact on sleep time as the string twist method. Sleep records almost doubled overnight as soon as whoever-it-was figured it out.
It involves holding the string a few inches above the yoyo and twisting it in either direction. The tension of the string's twist...uh, twists on the axle to control the tilt and keep the string from rubbing against the sides of the yoyo. And as we all know, less friction means more spin.
